WORRIES have been expressed over plans for a new housing estate in Penketh.

Developers are looking to demolish buildings on the Boultings site on Chapel Lane and build 14 homes in its place.

But dozens of neighbours have objected as well as ward councillor and former Mayor Linda Dirir and Penketh Parish Council.

Developers have reduced the size of the buildings from three-storey to two.

But concerns remain over the difference in land level.

Twenty one objections from 13 neighbouring properties have also been sent to Warrington Borough Council.

Residents fear a loss of privacy and amenity and say they are worried about the impact on highway safety.

Planning documents state: "The application site is owned by the applicant Boulting Engineering and this business has outgrown the current premises and are looking to relocate to a larger premises within the Warrington area.

"The site is small and is surrounded on all sides by residential which is why the applicant is exploring a residential opportunity on the site."

The application has been recommended for approval.

Councillors will meet on Wednesday at the development management committee to debate the scheme.

As this is an outline application, more detailed plans would need to be submitted should the application be approved.
