A COMMUNITY rugby league club has donated more than 100 Easter eggs to a food bank.

Woolston Rovers made the generous donation to the Poulton and Fearnhead Foodbank, with the chocolate treats being distributed to families in need over the school holidays.

Community development officer Dom Ball coordinated the effort with the support of the Yard, a milkshake and desserts bar on Dam Lane in Woolston.

He said: “It was great as a club to be able to get involved and give back to a small part of our community.

“The work being done by the Poulton and Fearnhead Foodbank is simply amazing.

“To see the weekly operation they run, ensuring families and children do not go without food, really touched me and made me empowered to want to do more – and as a club we need to do more.

“I am really excited to see what a close relationship we can help build in the future, ensuring as a club we are giving back where we can and looking after those who are always so willing to support us.

“This may have only been a small gesture, but as a club we are beginning to make a larger impact on our local community and developing some really important bonds.

“I would also like to thank the team at the Yard for allowing people to drop of the eggs at their premises.”
