STEVE Price says Greg Inglis is unlikely to be fit for Warrington Wolves' opening game of the Super League season.

The legendary centre missed out on Chris Hill's Testimonial match against Leigh Centurions and did pre-match fitness work alongside prop Sitaleki Akauola instead.

After The Wire's 34-12 win, Price did not confirm reports in the Australian media that the 34-year-old had suffered a hamstring injury.

However, when asked about his chances of facing Castleford in Leeds on March 28, Price said: "If I was a betting man, I'd say he was long odds.

"He’s done a bit of training with us but we wanted to put him out there and get some more miles in and some directional change as he hasn’t played in so long.

"We’ve got a duty and a responsibility to get his body right.

"With Greg and Sitaleki, we feel they need to get some more miles under their legs.

"He was running out there pretty openly but we’ll get some more volume into them and see where they’re at."

Stand-off Blake Austin went off injured in the first half of the game at The Halliwell Joens Stadium but despite suffering a knock to his knee.

However, there was good news surrounding his fitness.

"Blake will be fine. He copped a bit of a bang on the knee but he will be okay," Price said.

"Other than that, we’ve come through pretty healthy which you always aim for from these type of games."

The same goes for skipper Jack Hughes and prop Mike Cooper, who both missed the game against the Centurions but both are expected to be fit to face the Tigers.
