A PUPIL from Lymm High School is taking part in the Brave the Shave campaign to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Hazel Brookhouse is shaving her head to fundraise for a charity close to her heart after her godmother and great aunt passed away from cancer.

She is doing the challenge for them and to help others who may suffer with the illness.

Hazel, who is from Lymm, set a target for £250 but has already surpassed this, raising £305 so far.

She would like to thank anybody who has already donated and for any future donations: ‘‘As it is a fantastic charity that helps people when they really need it.’’

She is set to shave towards the middle of May.

Hazel’s grandmother, Helen, also took part in the Brave the Shave campaign in 2018 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Hazel wanted to join her but decided to wait a few years until she was older.

Hazel’s mother, Kathy, said: ‘‘Myself and the family are very supportive and extremely proud of her.’’

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

Since 2015, the Brave the Shave campaign has raised over £22.7 million for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Hazel and her family also fundraise for St Rocco’s Hospice. Hazel is hoping to take part in St Rocco’s next Colour Bubble Fun Run.
