MONTHS of overnight closures will begin on the M62 in March.

Resurfacing work will cause disruption on the motorway between junction nine at Winwick and junction seven at Rainhill.

Full closures and lane closures will be implemented during various phases of the roadworks, which is scheduled to commence on Monday, March 1.

The scheme will last for 12 weeks, with work being carried out between 10pm and 5am – or until 7am on weekends.

Diversions will be signposted where required.

A Highways England spokesman said: “Our aim is to ensure we keep the network safe and operational, as well as improving journeys for our customers.

“For safety, we will either have overnight lane or full carriageway closures in place between junctions seven and nine of the M62.

“This will be done in various phases during the dates and time stated.

“Please not that only one side of the carriageway will be closed at a time.

“Whilst we always aim to work to our schedule, unforeseen circumstances such as severe weather conditions may mean slight changes occur at short notice.

“Every effort will be made to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.

“However, these works will inevitable generate some noise and disruption and we’d like to apologise in advance for any disturbance.
