A SHAREHOLDER of a leading logistics firm based in Appleton Thorn has officially changed its name.

Eddie Stobart Logistics plc, which has a minority interest in the trading entities of Eddie Stobart, headquartered at Stretton Green Distribution Park in Langford Way, will now trade as Logistics Development Group.

The firm became known as Logistics Developments Plc on Wednesday.

This is the name of the plc however and not the operational business brand Eddie Stobart, which is set to continue.

A group spokesman said: “Logistics Development Group Plc (LDG) changed its name from Eddie Stobart Logistics plc on February 10, having announced this change in December of last year.

“LDG continues to hold a minority interest in the Greenwhitestar Acquisitions group which includes Eddie Stobart – the transport and warehousing business – which will continue to maintain its name and brand.”

To reflect the name change, the company’s website address will change to ldgplc.com

Chairman Adrian Collins, in documents posed on the new website, explained the decision to change the firm’s name.

He said: “We are pleased to have conditionally raised £9million, more than meeting our previously-announced technical requirement to raise £6million, to complete our conversion to an AIM investing company.

“Today we have also announced that we intend to change the name of the company to Logistics Development Group plc.

“This marks our transition to a growth-focused investment vehicle whilst further delineating the company from the Eddie Stobart business, in which we hold an indirect interest and which, as previously announced, has returned to profitability and firmly put its past challenges behind it.”

Shareholders should note that their shareholdings will be unaffected by the change of name, share certificates remain valid and no action is required by shareholders.
