A DANGEROUS driver has been jailed after his actions behind the wheel caused the death of the passenger sat next to him.

Reece Entwistle was driving a Mercedes A200 when it travelled straight over the Greyhound Roundabout on the East Lancs at Glazebury on Saturday, August 22.

The 29-year-old, from Timperley, collided with trees during the incident at around 11pm, which led to the death of his passenger – a man in his 30s, named locally as Mark Taylor.

Entwistle was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving while over the prescribed limit for drink/drugs.

After pleading guilty at an earlier hearing, he was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison today, Wednesday, at Bolton Crown Court.

He was also disqualified from driving for 13 years.

PC Karl Horner, of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the man's loved ones and I hope this sentencing provides them with a sense of closure.

"I also hope this case serves as a reminder about the potential consequences of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs."
