A CULTURAL Quarter bar has temporarily closed – saying Warrington's tier 2 restrictions have made it 'impossible for us to continue'.

Speakeasy inspired venue The Volstead in Bold Street has shut its doors for what the management hopes is a 'short while'.

The themed bar takes visitors back to the prohibition era of 1920s America when alcohol was banned and bootleggers made 'moonshine' behind the police's back.

A statement on Facebook said: "It’s with a heavy heart that we are going to have to close our doors for a short while, with all the new restrictions in place it has become impossible for us to continue.

"As things begin to relax we will be back to welcome you all again. Thank you for all the good times we’ve had together and we’ll see you soon."
