THIS weekend would usually see one of Rotary Warrington's biggest days – Oktoberfest.
But the Parr Hall event, which offers revellers beer, live music and celebrations, has been cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The event raises thousands of pounds for charities and social organisations.
But Rotary members say they were determined to find a new way to help in the pandemic.
Brian Spooner, from the organisation, said: "Members agreed that it would be beneficial to do something for children who, due to circumstances, were missing out on small treats.
"It was decided that the Rainbow Bag could fill this void and bring a little happiness to the recipients.
"A number of bags were filled with treats including sweets and small toys and distributed via Warrington Foodbank to a number of children in the town.
"Warrington Rotary are asking those who would have been attending or sponsoring Oktoberfest to donate cash amounts towards this scheme so they are able to expand it to give the opportunity to get them to more children in Warrington."
