A SUSPECT has been charged after a ram raid at a convenience store.
The Co-op on Maybrook Place in Latchford village was targeted by burglars at around 10.45pm on Thursday, May 28.
Offenders attempted to steal the shop’s cash machine, but were unsuccessful.
It is believed that they reversed a white van into the front doors of the premises in order to gain entry before using an angle grinder on the ATM.
But they fled in a black BMW after being disturbed.
The car was later found abandoned in the Partington area of Manchester, with the van being left at the scene.
Shattered glass were strewn across the car parking spaces outside the morning after the incident.
David Bennett, from Manchester, has now been charged with burglary in connection with the raid.
He is due to appear before Warrington Magistrates Court today, Tuesday, in order to face this count.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “A 42-year-old man from Partington, Greater Manchester, has been charged with burglary other than a dwelling with intent to steal.
“The charge relates to a burglary at the Co-op at Bridge Shopping Centre on Maybrook Place on Thursday, May 28.
“David Bennett, from Hardwick Road in Partington, will appear at Warrington Magistrates Court on September 8.”
