A SUPPORTED housing site for young people in Warrington town centre has achieved the highest grade possible by The Foyer Federation.

The accreditation means Verve Place, in Mersey Street, is ‘operationally and strategically strong’ is a number of key areas for residents, such as learning and education, work, health, social skills and personal development.

Verve Place, like other foyers, provides supported housing for young people aged 16-25 who cannot live at home.

Your Housing Group has four foyers located across the north west; Bridge Foyer in Chester, Verve Place in Warrington, Coops Foyer in Wigan and Ravenhead Foyer in St Helens.

Speaking about the group’s success, Andy Ward, young people service’s operation manager, says: “The clear sense of positive direction from leadership, the introduction of WiFi for all residents, positive feedback from staff on support received during the lockdown period and additional investments and enhancements were also recognised, as well as the introduction of the Galactic Awards to celebrate outstanding achievements.

“We engage young people from the very first meeting by making sure the foyer is welcoming, non-judgmental and supportive.

“Staff on scheme build strong relationships with young people that is based on trust.

“The foyer offer means there are a whole host of opportunities, from living in a safe and secure home with all the essentials to tapping into the support and learning opportunities available.

“We have excellent links with agencies and partners to ensure an enhanced holistic service is offered.”

The foyers work hard to understand every individual’s needs, aspirations and abilities, and tailors their learning programmes to enhance their skills and knowledge.

There are programmes of support to encourage independent living and employability which can compliment college or training courses.
