A FORMER office building in Orford Lane could be converted into apartments if plans are approved.

Proposals have been submitted to Warrington Borough Council to transform the former Swinton Insurance office into four one-bedroom apartments.

The property was formerly two terraced houses, with applicant Realselect Ltd seeking to return it to residential use.

If approved, the front access would be retained to accommodate two ground floor apartments, with entrance to the first floor via a central steel staircase to the rear with a common landing area.

The applicant says that keeping the staircase outside the apartments will maximum interior space without the need for any additional building.

Warrington Guardian:

A complete renovation is proposed due to the building being in a ‘very poor state of repair’ as a result of considerable damp penetration.

The windows would be completely replaced, plaster removed and insulation added, while exterior brickwork would be repointed and the roof would be repaired.

Electrics would be renewed and a new electric heating system installed, together with the fitting of new bathrooms and kitchens.

Three parking spaces would be provided in the open rear area.
