A SUSPECTED drink driver has been arrested and charged after a car crashed into a railway bridge in the early hours of Sunday.
Police were called to Froghall Lane at around 4.30am yesterday, August 9, after a Renault Clio hit a wall near to the junction with Priestley Street.
Officers arrested the motorist following a roadside breathalyser test.
Nikalaos Varnava, of Mapplewell Crescent in Hood Manor, has since been charged with drink driving in connection with the incident.
The 22-year-old is now due to appear before Warrington Magistrates Court next month.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Officers attended Froghall Lane at around 4.30am on Sunday, August 9, after a black Renault Clio collided with a wall – a breath test was conducted at the scene by officers and a 22-year-old man was arrested and subsequently charged with drink driving.
“He has since been bailed to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court at a later date.”
