POLICE are investigating after horses were stabbed at a stables in Burtonwood.
The animals were discovered with cuts to their behind legs at a yard off Gorsey Lane on the evening of Friday, July 17.
It is believed that the five horses were attacked in the early hours of that day, with some suffering horrific slash wounds.
But Merseyside Police says that none of them required veterinary care to the cuts, with its investigations ongoing.
A force spokesman said: “We were contacted at 5.15pm on Friday, July 17, following reports that five horses at Moat House Farm on Gorsey Lane had suffered cuts to their rear legs.
“None of the horses required veterinary assistance.
“It is believed it happened between midnight and 4.30am on July 17.
“Enquiries have been carried out in the local area.”
