A STUNNING 16 feet mural showcasing the best of Warrington's celebrities, culture and history has been created as part of an inspirational school project.

Birchwood Community High School (BCHS) will be displaying the huge tribute to celebrate the town and inspire students to feel proud of their home.

Head teacher, Emma Mills, has been working alongside talented artist, Justin Eagleton, to create the masterpiece.

They have included a variety of well-known Warrington images, such as the Warrington Wolves, Viola Beach, The Peace Centre and even a Warrington Guardian front page.

Emma Mills, head teacher, said: "We are working on rebranding the school in line with how we are moving forward.

"We are focusing on our key values of aspiration, knowledge and kindness.

Warrington Guardian:

"As part of our focus on aspiration, we wanted a real centrepiece in school that linked to our wonderful town and celebrated iconic figures from Warrington, and a focus on our ex-students who have gone on to achieve amazing things.

"We are also a great believer that our environment reflects our state of mind, so work very hard to ensure our school is inspiring and calming, and we wanted this piece of art as the catalyst for our regeneration project across the school."

Justin Eagleton is a professional artist, illustrator and designer from Manchester.

His notable works around Manchester include the Hacienda-themed Bee and a mural outside The Printworks.

Emma added: "I knew that Justin was definitely the right person for the job and he jumped at the chance to be able to create such a memorable piece that celebrates Warrington and will inspire students and staff at our school for many years to come."

Warrington Guardian:

Justin explained: "My artwork features many inspiring people who are from Warrington, have lived there or attended BCHS in the past alongside much of the rich history from the town.

"I’ve included household names such as musician and performer George Sampson, Premier League footballers, David Brooks and Jesse Lingard and Royle Family actress, Sue Johnstone, amongst many other iconic people.

"This 16 feet wide artistic creation will soon be seen by thousands of students, staff and the wider community in its new home at BHS and I hope it brings much love and inspiration to all who see it and appreciate the vibrant history and success the school and Warrington has created throughout the years."
