A FESTIVAL fanatic has recreated Glastonbury in his own back garden using Lego.

Adam Hardman was due to travel down to Somerset for his third Glasto this summer, but the legendary five-day event has been cancelled for this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Instead, he set up his own tiny Glastonbury in the garden of his home in Dallam.

Created with the help of housemate Jonathan Oakes, the mini festival’s crowd and performers were made up of Lego figures.

Also featuring a version of the famous Pyramid Stage and the usual iconic array of flags, special effects came courtesy of a smoke machine, party lighting and sparklers – with an iPad screening out past performances from the likes of the Killers, the Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Dolly Parton and the Chemical Brothers.

And videos of these ‘sets’ posted to Facebook have since been watched by hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Adam, 30, said: “I made it when I was bored on Saturday afternoon, and before I knew it we were shooting a whole set.

“I’ve been really down at the fact that I’m not going to be going to Glastonbury this year – I’ve been to the last two, and watching them on the TV has always been a massive thing for me.

Warrington Guardian:

“There were a few other festivals I was supposed to go to as well and they’ve all been cancelled, so I wanted to come up with something that recreates the feeling of being at one and to revisit better times.

“I had a bit of wood in the shed that was left over from when I had the bathroom done a few months ago and I made the Pyramid Stage out of that, then I put that on top of some garden furniture.

“It’s so bad that it’s good, it was just a case of using what I had – I didn’t even need to leave the house to produce it.”

Warrington’s own Glastonbury Festival has helped to lift spirits at a difficult time across the UK.

Adam added: “I can’t even open the Facebook app on my phone at the minute because of how many notifications I’m getting, it’s bonkers.

“Some of the comments and messages that have been coming in are amazing.

“One woman said she was ready to throw the towel in, and this had turned her around.

“It’s just been one thing after another recently, and I just thought that if someone watches this and smiles then we’ve achieved something.”
