TWO men have been jailed after spitting at supermarket staff and police officers during the coronavirus outbreak.
Patrick Delaney and Jason Robson were handed imprisonments of 16 and 22 weeks respectively at Warrington Magistrates Court on Tuesday, March 31.
Delaney, of Lord Nelson Street in Howley, spat at employees and police during an incident at Lidl on Fennel Street the previous day.
The 47-year-old admitted assault and assaulting an emergency services worker.
Shortly before midnight the same day, 52-year-old Robson spat at two police officers near to his home address on Lovely Lane in Whitecross claiming that he had contracted Covid-19.
He admitted two counts of assaulting an emergency services worker.
Both men were also told to pay £122 victim surcharges.
