CHILDREN, parents and staff at Cheshire Day Nursery Thelwall have raised more than £1,000 to help the bushfire efforts in Australia.
The nursery in Thelwall New Road spent a week taking part in sponsored activities such as mini bush tucker trials, kangaroo hopping and Australian themed games.
A nursery pupil explained: "We're making cakes for charity because there was a fire where all the animals live and they got poorly.
"So, we're helping them by buying cakes and sweets."
The children made treats throughout the week to sell to parents, bringing the grand total raised to £1115.98.
All proceeds will be donated to the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary Recovery Fund.
