EIGHT men have been arrested and charged after a series of armed robberies at convenience stores across Warrington.
Shops in Orford, Woolston, Grappenhall and Lymm were targeted over the space of three months in 2019.
The first incident came in May last year when around £6,000 in cash and cigarettes was stolen from the Co-op on Chaise Meadow in Lymm by three men who threatened staff with a machete and a hammer.
One Stop on Dam Lane in Woolston was then raided in July 2019, with two men entering the store carrying machetes and ski masks before taking cash and cigarettes.
Later than month, the McColl’s on Concorde Place in Orford was targeted by two men wearing balaclavas – one of who was carrying a knife and a crowbar.
Money and cigarettes were stolen again during this armed robbery.
