WARRINGTON Primary Academy Trust (WPAT) has topped the national performance league tables.

WPAT, a group of primary schools in Warrington and Widnes, was joint first in England for the percentage of pupils reaching expected standards in the Key Stage Two SATs tests carried out in summer 2019.

The trust was first nationally for performance in maths and fourth for writing.

These results are based on the performance of year six pupils across the schools that have been part of the trust for three or more years.

Louise Smith, chief executive at WPAT, said: "We’re absolutely delighted at our national standings in these performance tables, which are a reflection of the hard work that has been done in all our schools since we were formed in 2016.

"We are committed to the education of children in the communities we serve and we have been steadily expanding, welcoming Ditton Primary in Widnes recently.

"Our aim is to continue growing and working together to drive forward the improvement of all of our schools.

"WPAT provides its schools with a range of benefits – schools get the support, expertise and professional development from staff from across the trust so that they can provide the very best education standards for their children."

WPAT school Bruche Primary was among the top performing schools in the country in the table for individual primary schools, with every year six pupil meeting their age-related expectations in reading, writing and maths.

WPAT is a community of more than 1,700 children aged two to 11 in six primary schools and a teaching school, employing more than 280 people.

The trust was formed in 2016 and has developed a national reputation for excellent standards.
