FIREFIGHTERS were called to move a car which ended up on its side following a crash on the M6.

The accident happened at 8.30am this morning, Thursday, near to junction 19 at Knutsford with delays back to the Thelwall Viaduct.

Three fire engines attended - one from Lymm, one from Winsford and one from Trafford in Greater Manchester - as did the major rescue unit from Winsford.

On arrival the crews found that no-one was trapped inside the saloon vehicle.

Firefighters made the vehicle safe before it was moved from between lanes two and three onto the hard shoulder.

The road was reopened soon after.
