AN empty town centre former council office is set to be turned into apartments.

Plans have been submitted to refurbish the vacant three-storey Palmyra House office block on Palmyra Square and pull down the nearby former vicarage.

Instead the offices will be converted in apartments and a new six-storey residential tower block will be built on the vicarage site.

It will see 29 apartments created in total at Palmyra House.

How it could look

Developers intend to keep the bottom floor of the building, which borders Bold Street Methodist Church, for office use.

The plans for the vicarage were submitted earlier this year.
