A MARRIED dad-of-two who was caught showing a huge samurai sword to his friends in the street has been spared jail.

Ali Sendi was seen showing off the terrifying weapon to a group of friends on Watkin Street on the evening of Sunday, July 14.

But a passing motorist spotted this and raised concerns with the police.

After a search, the giant sword was seized from the back seat of a car parked up on the same road – with around half a dozen police cars being reported in the area.

Sendi, of Watkin Street, was arrested at the scene.

On Thursday, August 1, the 30-year-old admitted possession of a bladed article in a public place in relation to the incident at Warrington Magistrates Court.

Described as being of ‘previous good character’, he was spared an immediate prison sentence – with magistrates instead handing him a four-month imprisonment suspended for a year.

Sendi was also told to pay court costs of £85 plus a victim surcharge of £122, with forfeiture and destruction of the samurai sword also ordered.
