PLANNING permission has been granted to demolish dilapidated changing rooms in Lymm and replace them with new facilities.

The existing building is used by Lymm AFC and stands on playing fields to the west of Sandy lane.

Proposals have now been given the green light by Warrington Borough Council, which include home and away changing rooms for players and match officials, a brew room and storage space.

The new pavilion will be three times the size of the current building but will be similar in terms of its appearance.

In the design and access statement, it is said that the development will ‘make a positive contribution to the area without adversely affecting the amenity of any neighbouring properties’.

Some residents did raise objections concerning vandalism which takes place at the existing building and hoped for provisions to stop children climbing on the roof to be put in place.

Many letters of support were also received, stating how the new facilities will ‘benefit sport in the local community’.
