A NEW orthodontic surgery will open in a Golden Square after being given the green light by Warrington Borough Council.

AMK Orthodontics have received planning permission for a section of the former BHS department store after it was split into several smaller plots.

The unit has been vacant since the retail chain collapsed in August 2016.

According to documents on the council’s planning website, a 203 square metre site close to the escalators to Warrington Bus Interchange has been earmarked.

The orthodontists will include four surgical rooms as well as facilities to perform x-rays, sterilisation and consultation.

Seven full-time jobs will be created by the development, and the surgery will open between 9am and 7pm from Mondays to Fridays, as well as 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.

Work on the unit must commence within three years.
