A PAINTING blunder on a town centre road has been rectified after an ‘honest mistake’.

A picture showing the error – yards from the Time Square car park – has been shared more than 1,200 times on Facebook after being posted on Tuesday evening.

The incident has been labelled as ‘another genius line painting effort courtesy of Warrington Borough Council’.

The road was painted to tell pedestrians to ‘look right’ despite traffic coming from the left.

And it appears the opposite side was also incorrectly marked.

The council has responded to the issue.

A spokeswoman said it was an ‘honest mistake’ and a ‘human error’ – and confirmed it was rectified within 24 hours.

She added: “The temporary one-way system on Moulders Lane has now been reversed and the markings have been repainted.”
