A TRIO of teenage arsonists were caught out after they set fire to schoolbooks which had their own names written on them.

Police were out patrolling in the Old Hall area this afternoon, Friday, when officers spotted three St Gregory’s Catholic High School pupils walking away from bushes near to the Cromwell Avenue site where a fire had been lit.

After extinguishing the blaze, it was discovered that the students had set fire to textbooks which had their names written on the front.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Whilst out on patrol this afternoon, three pupils from St Gregory’s have been seen walking away from some bushes where a fire was lit.

“With assistance, we have put the fire out and also found details of those pupils – after they’ve set their schoolbooks on fire with their names on.”
