THIS week’s incessant rain has taken its toll in areas of Great Sankey.
Trails and footpaths have been swamped by water.
The river that connects to the Mersey has overflowed into the next one.
One readers said: “We need a form of defence for Great Sankey’s rivers to limit the chance of more devastating flooding in the future, we need a better draining system instead of pipes that are all blocked and unsuitable.
“Wildlife has been effected in the area as nests for baby animals has been destroyed making them fragile with no safe place for them to nest.”
A flood warning for the area was in place on Wednesday but has since been cancelled.
