A WARRINGTON Wolves fan who pronounced on social media that last night’s cup match referee Robert Hicks ‘will be shot dead on tv’ has apologised for his ‘gobby’ actions.

And in a further post he added: “I wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

The poster of the Tweet left fellow Wire and rugby league supporters fuming with his behaviour.

He let rip after two Wire players were sin-binned in succession during the first half of the Challenge Cup quarter-final clash against Hull KR before hitting back on the stroke of half-time to lead 12-0.

“There ya go have that **** RFL scumbags,” he said.

“You’ll all be killed tomorrow. Robert Hicks will be shot dead on tv. WATCH AND LEARN.

“Enough of your corruption. Scumbags.”

The Tweet was deleted shortly afterwards, but not before causing a storm with supporters throughout the game.

He has followed up with a series of apologetic Tweets but continues to vent his views swiping at referees’ performances in Wire matches.

“Didn't mean what i said yesterday but rugy league officiating is getting beyond a joke,” he said.

“I let my mouth run at me an im sorry. Id never hurt a fly. Im sorry. 😭😭 Obviously id never hurt a fly #RugbyLeague.”

And in another Tweet he added: “Mr gobby has just reported it to police.

“As i say im a gobby little chunky brat but id never hurt anyone ever.

“I may say nasty things about rugby all time but i blame RFL.

“I accept a 15 year ban #RugbyLeague not Robs fault that the rfl pay him a **** wage and don't like wire.”

The man's Twitter account has since been taken down.
