A DAY full of fun activities can be expected from the upcoming Rixton-with-Glazebrook Carnival.

Staged in Hollins Green, the annual family-friendly event offers attractions for all ages, including music, dancing and even a light railway.

In a first for the event, Whitfield Light Railway will be on hand to take visitors for a spin around the Village Green.

Cadishead Band, Warrington Pipe Band and Radio Wishing Well will all be performing on the day, with dancing from Dance Rhythm, Warrington Wolves Fusion and Michele’s Z-style group.

Elsewhere, those feeling more adventurous can try zorbing, tackle an inflatable assault course and meet a variety of birds of prey from Wild Wings.

Other hands-on activities include a rope bridge, paint-a-pot, Raspberry Fields pony rides, a treasure hunt and face painting.

A varied display of vintage vehicles and machinery will also be set up to entertain those mechanically minded.

Local groups and businesses will be setting up stalls to entertain, inform and showcase their products for sale on the day, so there will be a chance to grab a bargain.

All refreshment needs will be catered for, with a tea and cake tent, a sandwich stall, the Drunken Donkey gin stall, barbecues and ice cream.

Residents are encouraged to enter their dogs in the fun dog show run by Rixton Dog School, which offers the chance to win one of the many fun categories.

The event will be held on the Village Green in Hollins Green on Saturday, June 29, from 11am to 4pm.
