WARRINGTON looks set to have three female mayors in a row for the first time in its history.
Cllr Wendy Johnson (LD – Lymm North and Thelwall) is due to be sworn in as the 136th mayor and first citizen of the borough during the annual council meeting at the Town Hall on Monday.
She will take over the ceremonial chains from Cllr Karen Mundry (LAB – Latchford East) for 2019-20.
And Cllr Maureen Creaghan (LAB – Poulton South) will serve as deputy mayor.

Both will need to get the backing from councillors in the chamber, which should be a formality.
It will mean that, as long as Cllr Creaghan is not deselected, that Warrington will have three female mayors in a row for the first time when she becomes mayor next year.
Cllr Creaghan said: “I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to be selected for this position.
“I think it is an excellent platform for women.
“I think going forward it is important that we have more women in the council to carry on the good work because I feel women bring something different.”
The annual council meeting begins at 5.35pm on Monday.
