Their number included James Williams, who became the Guinness World Record holder for the fastest marathon dressed as a snowboarder.

He completed the race in five hours, 21 minutes and 50 seconds while raising £2,000 for the Round Table Children's Wish – wearing full snowboarding kit and carrying a 5kg snowboard.

James said: "Who needs nails on their big toes when I have a Guinness World Record?

"I now hold the record for the fastest marathon dressed as a snowboarder."

This time was 24 minutes faster than the previous record.
