A FLY-tipper has been fined after repeatedly dumping waste near to the town centre.

Steven Wilson, from Woolston, tipped waste in and around commercial bins on School Brow which had been paid for by a private business owner.

Witnesses provided details of a vehicle involved in the dumping to Warrington Borough Council’s environmental crime team, which led to the 37-year-old defendant being tracked.

But he ignored notices from the council asking him to provide details of who was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident before failing to turn up at court of Wednesday, April 24.

A warrant was issued and Wilson, of Lincoln Close, was arrested and brought before Warrington Magistrates Court on Friday, April 26.

He admitted fly-tipping and was fined £120 and told to pay court costs of £550 plus a £30 victim surcharge.

Dr Muna Abdel Aziz, Warrington Borough Council’s director of public health, said: “The public are our eyes and ears and can make a real difference by providing our environmental crime team with any useful information in these cases, such as vehicle make, colour and registration or a description of the person seen committing the crime.

“We all have a responsibility to keep Warrington clean and tidy, and I would urge the public to continue to work with us to identify those who show such disregard for our borough with these actions.”
