A WINWICK man is set to cycle the gruelling 346km length of the Trans Pennine Trail to raise money for two worthy charities.

Paul Chruszcz, 66, will take on the challenge with three other cyclists, traversing the Trans Pennine Trail from coast to coast to support Cheshire and Merseyside Blood Bikes and Prostate Cancer UK.

Starting in Southport and finishing in Hornsea, Paul will cover a total of 346 kilometres in five days from May 13.

The keen cycler says he has never attempted a challenge on this scale, but is hoping his efforts will raise some much-needed funding and awareness for two important charities.

“I enjoy cycling, going out on my bike most days, and I took part in my first sponsored cycle challenge last year, but that was just within Cheshire,” said Paul.

“Having never done anything like this before, 346km over five days is going to be an extremely tough challenge.

“I am doing this to raise money for two very worthwhile charities that do fantastic work and every person who sponsors me will be helping me to get to that finish line in Hornsea.

“Any donations would be gratefully received, however small, as they will all make a huge difference.”

Cheshire and Merseyside Blood Bikes transport a wide range of vital blood and tissue samples between hospitals across the two counties, enabling quick and efficient deliveries of vital supplies.

Money raised for Prostate Cancer UK meanwhile will help fund improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention and support for people with prostate cancer.

Any donation, however small, will make a big difference to these charities, and if you would like to support Paul, donations can be made via his Just Giving page.
