THIS is the route motorists will be taking once a new river crossing planned to tackle congestion misery in Warrington is built.

The council’s video takes viewers on a tour to give them a glimpse of how their journeys could be improved once the £19.8 million Centre Park link road project is completed.

It begins with a visual at Chester Road before passing a turning at Gainsborough Road and, subsequently, the former Furness Rigby car garage.

The video then takes viewers along a new section of road – which includes turnings into Centre Park – before arriving to the land formerly home to DriveTime golf range.

A key component of the authority’s scheme is a new bridge across the Mersey to connect Chester Road to the town centre, via an extended Slutchers Lane leading from Wilson Patten Street.

The project, which is due to be completed in late 2020, will also see new traffic signal junction arrangements on Chester Road and Wilson Patten Street, along with traffic calming proposals for the Gainsborough Road area.
