A NEW health and fitness centre is due to open in Westbrook by the end of the year.

Construction work on Athelis, described as an 'exclusive health and fitness destination', has begun and is set to open for business in December.

Created by the team behind the Gymetc chain – which has branches in Lowton, Orrell and Congleton – the new club on Gemini Retail Park will offer 'unrivalled and luxury state-of-the-art facilities',

These facilities including 'high spec' fitness equipment, a licensed restaurant and an 'immersive spa experience' – including indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a 'unique' rooftop fitness space.

Warrington Guardian:

Located near to junction eight of the M62, the leisure centre is currently being built on a vacant plot of land neighbouring the Skymaster pub.

It is anticipated that the new centre will create 40 full-time and 20 part-time jobs – opening between 6.30am and 11pm from Mondays to Fridays, and from 8am to 9pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Group project manager Richard Edmunds said: "Athelis will really put Warrington on the fitness map, as it really is a destination health and fitness experience.

"It’s ideally situated for residents local to Warrington and surrounding areas, and with our background in creating luxury gyms we are looking forward to bringing something totally unique and exciting to the area."
