THIS week in Yester Years we are looking back on the golden days of Warrington Baths.
The pool, dating back to the Victorian times, closed in 2003 due to council cut backs.
Demolition work started in April 2011 and only part of the wall remains at the site of the current Bath Street medical centre.
The foundation stone was laid in 1865 and the baths were first opened in 1866.
For thousands of children in Warrington, this was where they learned to swim.
Sunny Lowry, pictured above at the main pool, was well known to aspiring swimmers across the town for her work at the Warrington Baths.
Along with husband Bill Anderson, she taught generations to swim in the pools of the Legh Street facility.
But it was long before Mrs Lowry marched the Baths’ banks that she made a name for herself, becoming the first British woman to swim the Channel as a 22-year-old.
