IT is time to dust off the glow sticks and running trainers as St Rocco's Hospice announces the details for its 2019 Starlight Walk.

The annual event is back for 2019, setting off at midnight on Friday, June 21 and this year there is a new route.

For the first time the ladies will be walking through Warrington using a route that will bring them right past St Rocco’s Hospice where there will be an opportunity to take time to place a tea light.

Fundraising manager, Rachel Ingham said: “We know that many ladies walk in memory of loved ones and so this year, as well as planning a different walk around Warrington, we’re delighted to be able to give ladies the opportunity to take part in this special moment as they pass by.”

The walk will still set off and finish at the Orford Jubilee Hub and entrants will still be able to choose the distance they walk – either six-and-a-half miles or two circuits to complete the half marathon distance of 13 miles.

They will also receive their ‘Get that Friday Feeling’ Starlight T-shirt to walk in.

The route is marshalled by a team of volunteers to keep the ladies safe.

Last year the women of Warrington raised nearly £85,000 to enable staff at St Rocco’s to continue to care for those in the community diagnosed with terminal and life-limiting illnesses.

Rachel added: “St Rocco’s is a charity which exists to care for local people. It costs £3.6 million every year to continue our care and we rely on the local community to help raise 78 per cent of that amount.

"Taking part in the Starlight Ladies Walk is a brilliant way of coming together as a community to be there for those who need us at such a difficult time in their lives.

"Everyone who takes part in the event, either walking or volunteering, has the satisfaction of knowing that all the funds raised will stay in Warrington for the benefit of the community.”

During January ladies can sign up for an early bird price of £12 at www.starlightladieswalk.co.uk.
