A 19-YEAR-OLD woman was stopped by North West Motorway police officers after being spotted using her mobile phone while she was driving just two days after passing her test.
The motorist was spotted on the M6 southbound and stopped by officers earlier today, Christmas Eve.
When she was asked by officers why she was using her phone, she told them "I needed to speak to my friend because my boyfriend has just finished with me."
The driver could now lose her licence after strict new laws were brought in regarding using a mobile phone while driving.
What does the law say regarding using a phone while driving?
You can get six penalty points and a £200 fine if you use a hand-held phone when driving.
You’ll also lose your licence if you passed your driving test in the last 2 years.
That's because your licence will be cancelled (revoked) if you get six or more points within 2 years of passing your test.
