A TALENTED Bridgewater High student has gone from skating novice to champion after winning a role in Cinderella on Ice.

Emilie Archer, 11, from Stockton Heath beat the competition after entering an ice skating programme as a complete beginner and finishing as the overall winner.

She has won further lessons, a voucher for ice skates and performed in Cinderella on Ice at Planet Ice Altrincham on December 13.

Her proud mum, Louise Archer, watched her daughter flourish on the ice in the Skating Stars programme at the Altrincham ice rink.

She said: "She was just skating at the rink with her brother and a lady approached her, asked if she had any lessons and said she should audition.

"She originally had three months of lessons and every week they would gradually knock out children until Emilie got to the final five.

"They had to do a routine in front of a panel of judges and and she won it!

"Part of her prize was to perform in the Cinderella on Ice Christmas show.

"She loves skating and all of a sudden she's found something that she really enjoys and every moment she gets she wants to go and skate."

Emile hopes to continue skating and may be in with a chance of competing nationally in the future.
