A KIND-HEARTED girl is collecting food for Warrington Animal Welfare this Christmas to help cheer up pets who don't have a home.

Jessica Bird, from Padgate, is writing to supermarkets across Warrington to see if they will donate animal food along with her own collection efforts.

Jessica has three dogs, Pudsey, Milly and Scooby and wants other animals to be treated as well as her beloved pets.

She wrote: 'I talked to my mum about these animals and decided I wanted to get them some extra food for over Christmas. My mum thought this was a really good idea and has helped me in trying to get lots of food for them. I have bought the animals some food and treats with my own money and I have asked my friends and family to to buy some food and treats for the dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs that are being looked after at Warrington Animal Welfare.

'I will take the food on Thursday, December 20. I think it would be really nice if you could please help me by giving me some pet food or treats to take with me to the animal shelter and I'm sure that they would be very thankful for anything, even if you are only able to give one tin or bag of food as a donation.'

The seven-year-old is a pupil at St Oswald's Catholic Primary School in Padgate and earlier this year raised £400 to install a buddy bench for lonely children in the playground.

If you would like to donate food to Jessica's fundraising efforts, you can email her mum Kim on kimmyb21@hotmail.co.uk and she will collect any donations.
