A NEW vision for the long term future of Lymm has been unveiled.

The Lymm Neighbourhood Plan Working Group has penned a proposed vision for statement which will guide them as they prepare policies for the Lymm Neighbourhood Plan.

The vision says “By 2037 Lymm will continue to provide an excellent quality of life for those who work, live and enjoy their leisure time in the village. The strong awareness of community will have deepened, the physical environment and the social and physical infrastructure improved.

“The contribution of visitors to the local economy will have grown. The valuable historic elements and the attractive natural environment of the parish will have been protected and enhanced.”

Jonathan Foreman, chairman of the working group said, “Vision statements are easy to criticise as being overly simplistic and idealistic.

“However, they play an important role in the development of a neighbourhood plan and its policies.

“The proposed vision statement has been developed from the many opinions, concerns and aspirations collected from residents over the past 12 months.”

Andy Openshaw, event co-ordinator, said, “We are asking residents to complete a survey on the proposed vision statement and objectives which is available at lymmplan.org/consult until November 30.

“The more opinions we can gather the better we can represent the views of residents in the Neighbourhood Plan.”

Anna Fradgley, chairman of Lymm Parish Council said, “The strong sense of community in Lymm was shown by the dedication of the large team of volunteers who freely gave their time to put on the event.

“Despite the weather, more than 300 Lymm residents attended and took the opportunity to make suggestions on what the plan should include. It is important residents take this opportunity to show their support for the Lymm Neighbourhood Plan by completing the survey.”

The posters displayed in the village hall reported back on the findings from last year’s consultation, updated everyone on the information gathered so far and set out the proposed vision.

The posters can now be viewed online on the neighbourhood plan website lymmplan.org.
