A COMPANY director from Winwick pushed his body to its limits for a cause close to his heart.

Nathan Liptrot, 45, along with his friend Simon Martin, embarked on a gruelling 16-day trek to Everest Base Camp to raise funds for Epilepsy Research UK and The Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity.

Nathan vowed to raise vital funds for Epilepsy Research UK as his wife has been living with the condition for the past 10 years while Simon’s mum and partner have both been affected by heart problems.

He said: “There were some days that were tougher than expected but it was definitely worth it.

“It hasn’t put me off doing something like this again.

“When you are getting up at 4am, it is tough but we just kept thinking about the good causes that we would be able to help.”

The climb started off as a personal challenge for the two friends but they wanted to go the extra mile.

So the two men decided it would be the perfect opportunity to raise money for two amazing charities.

It was never going to be easy but Nathan and Simon finished the climb one day earlier than anticipated.

On the day they arrived at the base camp, they discovered that they had hit their fundraising target.

They have so far raised more than £6,000 with donations continuing to roll in.
