TWO takeaways have responded to concerns over food hygiene.

Italian Express in Stockton Heath and Lucky House in Penketh were two of five eateries in the town to be handed food hygiene improvement notices by Warrington Borough Council in the 12 months up to April this year.

The former’s notice to improve was given after concerns were raised over its external refuse containers, while Lucky House had issues surrounding documentation of a food safety system and staff training.

But both premises say that these matters have now been resolved.

A spokesman for Italian Express said: “Italian Express is extremely concerned to be categorised with other businesses classed as being non-compliant with food hygiene.

“Italian Express was contacted by Warrington Borough Council regarding a minor issue with overloaded external bins last year.

“This matter occurred due to arrangement issues with waste management companies and has been resolved.

“Italian Express would like to express that the priority on customer service starts with food hygiene, and we care about the health and safety of all our customers.”

Jay Wu took over the ownership of Lucky House, formerly Wing Fat, in June last year.

He said: “We received the warning in July last year, and the issues were due to documentation.

“We were inspected by food hygiene in November last year and received a score of five.

“Everything is in a good condition and there are no worries over food hygiene.”
