SCHOOLS and businesses across Warrington were busy baking last week as they took part in Macmillan coffee mornings to raise money for the cancer support charity.

Pupils at St Augustine's Catholic Primary School in Latchford were also busy on Friday as they hosted their coffee morning.

Children in year three and year six helped sell cakes and hot drinks to families and raised an impressive £354.27.

Youngsters at St Benedict's Catholic Primary School in Orford invited their families to their coffee morning, where they sold cakes and held a raffle.

Pupils were also invited to read out poems to the guests and raised much needed funds for Macmillan.

Businesses on Wilderspool Park in Stockton Heath showed their support for Macmillan by raising more than £500 at their coffee morning.

Companies including No Brainer, Medline Industries, Ardent Management and Axon Resourcing put their baking skills to the test and provided a range of cakes, brownies and other sweet treats for people on Wilderspool Park.

On-site coffee provider, Second City Coffee, also laid on a range of cakes and donated 50p from every hot drink sold on the day to the charity.

Second City Coffee owner, Dex Morris, said: "We really enjoyed bringing everyone from the park together over coffee and cake to help raise money for such a worthwhile cause.

"The standard of cakes from everyone was fantastic – some of the best ones were actually made by a ten-year old girl called Tilly who is the daughter of one of our regular customers!

"It's been great to support the campaign again this year and we're really pleased that so many people at Wilderspool got behind it."
