PLANS for a hydropower scheme at Howley Weir have been revealed.
A disused lock channel on the Mersey, adjacent to Parkdale Industrial Estate, would be used to generate hydroelectric power under an application for planning permission submitted to Warrington Borough Council.
The proposals would see an Archimedes screw turbine, turbine house building and electrical substation constructed on the site.
Applicant H20 Power Ltd submitted plans for a similar scheme at Woolston Weir in June.
A consultation on the plans runs until Wednesday, October 10.
