A CARE home in Winwick has been ordered to improve for the second time in a year.

St Oswald’s House Care Home has been rated as requiring improvement by the Care Quality Commission following an unannounced inspection in December.

The Golborne Road home, which is able to house up to 41 people, had already been told to improve by the CQC following a previous inspection in January last year.

Inspectors found four breaches of health and social care regulations on their most recent visit.

They expressed concerns over how staff administered medication and residents’ care records.

But action had been taken to address previous breaches.

A spokesman for the care home said: “The inspectors acknowledged the improvements that had been made since their previous inspection.

“The aspects of the service that they said still required improvement related mainly to records of care provided and records of administration of medication.

“Since the inspection we have improved record keeping and other documentation.

“In their report, the inspectors noted that nursing and senior staff had been designated with responsibility for the management and administration of medication and they have completed medication training.”
