THE acting chief constable for Cheshire Constabulary is preparing for her dancing debut for St Luke’s Hospice Strictly Learn to Dance fundraiser.

Janette McCormick will take to the dance floor with a fellow member of the emergency services, former ambulance staffer Kevin Shufflebottom.

Teaching the contestants their moves is former professional dancer Steve Brandreth.

ACC McCormick said: “Although aching in muscles I didn’t know I had, I thoroughly enjoyed our first rehearsal.

"Kevin and I are going to be working hard over the next couple of months to perfect our sequence.

"Kevin has more dance experience than I do but we’re both competitive so, as well as wanting to raise as much money as possible for St Luke’s, we’re also in it to win it."

Janette and Kevin will be showing off their routines at the grand final of St Luke’s Strictly Learn to Dance at Crewe Hall on March 24.

All money raised will be donated to the Winsford-based hospice.

Tickets can be ordered by visiting stlukes-hospice.co.uk/events/strictly/ or call 01606 555832.
