CLOSURES will be in place on the M6 tonight for emergency repairs to a pothole on the Thelwall Viaduct.
Workmen were scheduled to complete work to repair a six inch deep pothole, measuring 3ft by 4ft, on the northbound carriageway between junction 20 at Lymm and junction 21 at Woolston yesterday evening but were unable to due to poor weather conditions.
All traffic on the motorway was stopped at dinner time on Wednesday in order to allow Highways England to assess the damage and make a temporary repair, with resurfacing work planned for 9pm that evening.
A second temporary repair was made to the pothole this morning, with permanent work now instead scheduled to take place tonight, Thursday, from around 9pm subject to weather conditions.
Three lanes will shut on the M6 northbound for around an hour.
