BIRCHWOOD Community High School is set to reduce the number of places it offers for year seven students.
The academy trust which runs the school has launched a consultation on plans to cut the number of admissions from 210 to 170 from September 2019.
Head teacher Moira Bryan said the move is a response to King’s Leadership Academy opening nearby in Woolston.
Ms Bryan said: “Our published admission number was increased when Woolston High School closed as Birchwood Community High School then picked up learners from Woolston.
“We plan to decrease our admission number now that King’s Leadership Academy is fully open in Woolston.
“We are a community high school and we will ensure that we can still take all the learners from the Birchwood area and the areas immediately adjacent to Birchwood.”
A spokesman said the school will be working closely with neighbouring primary schools and is committed to serving the community.
